Great Job or Great Life?!?!?!

Note: I first drafted the below post in 2010…and never logged back in…now as we head into 2012 I am still having the same internal debate…so I thought I would share anyway!!

 

I am struggling with an issue and I know I am not the only one because it is ALWAYS the topic of discussion….do you do what you love/have a passion for? Or do you do what pays the bills? No sucking up rent subsidies, and WIC cereal  being a stay at home parent does not count!!

The recession has been a great time for people to attempt new career paths.  “Alternate Route” certification programs are popping up all over the place so that out of work or interested professionals can now attempt a teaching career.

But what if your dream job doesn’t really cut it financially? What if you are like me and like to order the caviar and expensive wine? What if you have been eyeing those Louis Vuitton shoes but know that without a sponsor buying them will result in you getting evicted? Would you still hold on to that job?

A brotha likes nice clothes, restaurants and travel…but can only afford a $2 Grey’s Papaya dog and trip to Coney Island on my current salary…please help!!!

 

Its Been A Long Time…I Shouldnta Left You…

Hey Everyone,

Whats up out there in Blogger land!?!?!?! It has been a LONG time since I posted on here!!

At first when I thought about this whole blogging thing, I thought that it would be no thang for me to post a few times a day, get discovered, and be able to “just throw it in the bag” in just a few months time!!!

But alas I got a J O B…quite necessary in this age of foreclosures,beggars with their own theme songs (more later) and hoooongry ass (yuuup hoongry) family members who always got a hand out!!

But I digress. The situation at this job has been volatile to say the least and I am trying to get out!!! So if you know of folks hiring in the DMV, Philly, or NYC areas…HOLLA AT CHA HOMEBOY!!!!

Birmingham, AL swears in first black female mayor

Carole Smitherman took over operations as Interim Mayor of Birmingham, AL after her predecessor was convicted of over 60 felony counts of fraud….PAUSE!!!! Her predecessor Larry Langford took bribes in exchange for contract bids to go to an old friend while he was a County Administrator. Because his friend’s firm bungled those bids the County is looking at a deficit of over 3 billion dollars, and is considering filing for bankruptcy….Langford could spend the rest of his life in jail.

Several problems with this situation…if this article is about Carole Smitherman…why is there almost no mention of her?!?! SEXISM Also if I was the people in that county I would beat the shit outta that man make him give us a full accounting of the finances!! SMH @ this!!! Check it out!!

Man fired from Home Depot over Pin

A man was fired from Home Depot…lets stop and laugh at this fuckery right here…how hard is it to get fired from Home Depot?!?!? after he refused to remove a pin that spoke to a specific religious reference. Officials at Home Depot said that his pin was unacceptable because it said “One Nation Under God”. They offered him a “United We Stand” button which he refused. He was subsequently fired. There are just no words…and it gets better when he starts talking about his reasons for wearing the pin. I simply cannot deal with his Rush Limbaugh/KKK influenced ideology!!! Check out the story!!!

So Beenie Siegel put out a diss record the other day that was aimed at none other than Joe Camel Jay-Z himself. Personally I feel like its stupid to come out with diss records…if you need to bring someone else down to stay relevant, then you aint nothin in the first place! Also Beenie and Jay are supposed to be friends, and are label mates. Beenie said on Hot 97 that he was taking Jay to the yard for 5 minutes…NEXT! Beenie aint been hot in the streets since State Property!!! But anywho…tell me what yall think of the track!!!!

News Anchor taken off air after allegedly beating wife

“TV newsman Dominic Carter was yanked off the air Thursday after he was accused of beating his wife while calling her a “dumb, stupid, project bitch.’ “

First of all…that has to be the BEST opening line in journalistic history. Thank you NY Daily News for that!!!! NOW Dominic Carter, host of the hit political show “Inside City Hall” was taken off the air after going to court over complaints that he beat his wife about the face…after she realized this was fucking with her money taking some time, she later recanted her story saying it was a day laborer!!!

Cops had been called to their house several times before. He is also the author of a book about his abusive mother who tried to strangle him as a child. Carter’s contract is up in a month, lets see if he gets renewed!!! Personally I just think this man has bad luck with women!! His mama is crazy, his wife looks the same…just get you a fleshlight and join the Lonely Hearts Club, Playa!!!! I don’t even wanna speak on the racial aspects of this!! Ill leave that to Jesse!!

FUCK THE POLICE…said the citizens of Newark, NJ

In Newark, New Jersey’s largest and most dangerous city, the people are fed up! They are tired of the violence in the city and have decided to do something. They have formed “crime caravans” which are going out to patrol the streets of the city. These programs cost the city nothing, and are supposed to harness civilian angst into increased visibility in certain areas…ok BUT Newark is known as the most dangerous city in NJ for a reason…THEY DONT CARE!!!! Newark thugs GO HARD IN THE PAINT for NO reason!!! Once they find out that these people aren’t really cops, its gonna be like Hotel Rwanda a bloodbath in those streets!!!! I’m gonna pray for the citizens of Newark!! I personally would be addressing the problem from my bullet proof prayer closet cuz I know Jesus is my doctor and all…but he wont see me since I aint got health insurance!!!
